Nigerian ordinary passport holders living in Ireland need an advance UAE visa to enter Dubai for a tourist visit. Your Irish Residence Permit (IRP) does not give you automatic visa on arrival. Before paying, confirm that your chosen application channel accepts Nigerian applicants resident in Ireland.
Start with your passport, Irish residence details, and intended travel dates — and ask about any verification or appointment steps at the same time, so you know what completing the application will actually involve.
Check the verification steps first
The UAE Embassy in Abuja's guidance for Nigerian citizens describes initial tourist-visa approval, followed by a document verification number (DVN) and a visa-centre biometrics visit. It does not clearly explain how these steps apply to someone resident in Ireland.
Before starting, ask the submission team directly:
Can you accept my Nigerian passport and current Irish residence permission for this visa category? Does my application require DVN clearance or an in-person appointment? If an appointment is required, where must I attend, and at which stage? Which charges cover the visa service, verification, and any appointment?
Get the applicable instructions before paying for a separate verification service or arranging travel to an appointment. Irish residence alone is not proof those steps are waived — and initial approval is different from the final visa you need for travel.
Documents to prepare while living in Ireland
Keep files readable and use the same current passport throughout. The standard single-entry tourist checklist includes a passport copy, personal photo, departure or onward ticket, and medical insurance valid in the UAE; the passport must have at least six months' validity.
Nigerian passport and photograph. A clear details page and the requested photo format. Recently renewed? Flag any booking or residence record still referring to the previous document.
Current Irish residence evidence. Both sides of your IRP ready if requested. State your current permission and its expiry date — especially if a renewal or change of status is pending.
Trip and accommodation details. Your intended UAE entry and exit dates, where you will stay, and your next destination — including any separate Dubai visit on the return journey.
Additional evidence for your case. Ask for a written checklist before collecting bank statements, employment records, study evidence, or family documents. If financial evidence is required, confirm the period and format accepted for an Ireland-based applicant.
On the form: Nigeria for passport nationality, Ireland for current residence. A flight departing Dublin does not change your nationality.
Plan the return to Ireland
An IRP records your permission to stay in Ireland, and an in-date IRP allows its holder to travel from and return to the State. Carry your valid passport and IRP, and check the card covers your return date.
Students: compare your intended return with your IRP expiry and college commitments. If your permission is changing after graduation, explain which status you currently hold.
Workers: plan leave around the full application process, including any confirmed appointment. An employer's leave approval does not establish UAE visa eligibility.
Permission being renewed? Ask Irish Immigration Service Delivery what documents you need to return before leaving. Do not assume a renewal acknowledgement replaces a valid IRP for boarding — a UAE visa does not resolve an Irish return-document issue.
Start your application from Ireland
1. Describe your circumstances. Passport nationality, Ireland residence status, traveller ages, proposed Dubai dates — and mention any previous UAE refusal or active application when asked.
2. Agree the submission route. Confirm acceptance, the document checklist, and any verification or appointment requirements.
3. Review the full quote. Stay, entry count, included services, and cancellation/refusal terms — compare our current prices first.
4. Complete the required stages. Upload the requested records, attend any required appointment, and keep your application reference.
5. Read the issued visa. Check passport details, last entry date, and permitted stay before finalising travel.
Ask when the processing estimate starts and whether it includes verification stages. Paying for assistance does not guarantee issuance or entry — those decisions rest with UAE immigration.
Questions from Nigerians living in Ireland
Does my Irish IRP give a Nigerian passport visa on arrival in Dubai?
No. Arrange an advance UAE visa; Irish residence alone does not create visa-on-arrival eligibility.
Can the whole application be completed online from Ireland?
Do not assume so. Enquire and prepare documents from Ireland, but confirm whether verification or an in-person appointment applies before paying.
Do I need to travel to Nigeria for biometrics?
The embassy guidance does not clearly settle this for Ireland residents. Ask the submission channel to confirm whether an appointment applies and where, before booking any travel.
Does a Nigerian student in Ireland need a different tourist visa?
Explain your student status when assessed. Irish study permission is residence evidence; the UAE visa option depends on the visit's purpose, duration, and available route.
What if my child travels on an Irish passport?
Check each traveller on their own passport — entry routes may differ, so provide both nationalities when requesting a family review.
I live in Belfast — does this guide apply?
This guide covers the Republic of Ireland. Belfast is in Northern Ireland, where UK immigration permission applies — use UK-resident guidance for those residence-document questions.
