If you live in Ireland and travel on an ordinary Turkish passport, arrange a UAE visa before entering Dubai. An Irish Residence Permit (IRP) does not remove that requirement. Turkish special, service, and diplomatic passports have different exemption rules — so check the passport you will actually use before paying for a visa.
For an application from Ireland, prepare your current passport and Irish residence evidence together. And if family members hold different passport types, check each person separately.
Check your current passport before starting
Ordinary Turkish passport holders need a visa. Special, service, and diplomatic passport holders are exempt for visits of up to 90 days, subject to the applicable entry conditions.
This matters if your passport category has changed since your last Dubai trip. Someone now living in Ireland may previously have travelled on a special passport but now uses an ordinary one — the earlier trip does not establish eligibility for the new document. If your passport qualifies for an exemption, confirm the permitted visit with your airline before paying for an advance tourist visa.
Build your application with your Ireland details
Nationality and residence are separate fields: choose Türkiye/Turkey for passport nationality (per the form's label) and Ireland for your current country of residence.
Passport and photograph. A complete, readable passport details-page copy and a recent personal photo. Standard tourist conditions require a passport with at least six months' validity.
Irish residence evidence. Keep both sides of your current IRP available if requested. Mention any pending renewal, passport replacement, or change of permission — surprises surface at the worst moment otherwise.
Travel dates and departure arrangements. An onward or departure ticket and medical insurance valid in the UAE are required. Give your actual itinerary, including the destination after Dubai, and have accommodation or host details ready.
Supporting records, when requested. Ask which employment, study, or family documents your file needs — and confirm whether any Turkish-language document needs a translation, and in what format, before arranging one.
Turkish names across documents. Compare the spelling on your passport, Irish residence record, and flight booking. If a form will not accept a character in your name, ask the submission team how to enter it from your passport record. Never guess a spelling or alter a scanned document; explain any difference caused by marriage or a recent name change.
Plan the return to Ireland too
Your IRP is evidence of permission to stay in Ireland — an in-date IRP allows the holder to travel from and return to the State. Carry it with your valid passport and check its expiry against your return date.
Students: place the Dubai visit inside a study break and check whether your IRP expires before you return. If you are moving from study to another permission, give your current status — not the one you expect to receive.
Workers: keep leave dates consistent with the Dubai itinerary. Irish employment permission does not authorise work in the UAE.
IRP expiring or being renewed? Confirm return-document requirements with Irish Immigration Service Delivery before leaving. A renewal acknowledgement should not be assumed to replace a valid card for boarding.
One family trip can involve different entry rules
A shared address in Ireland does not mean everyone needs the same UAE visa. List each traveller's passport nationality and category when requesting a family review. Example: two adults in Dublin plan a week in Dubai — one uses an ordinary Turkish passport, the other a valid Turkish special passport. The first needs the advance visa route checked; the second should confirm the applicable exemption. An Irish-passport child needs a separate passport-based check. Review names and dates of birth individually, and ask what relationship or consent documents are required for any child travelling with one parent.
